Description: Last we checked, somewhere around 80% of ALL police officers killed in the line of duty are killed IN THEIR VEHICLES.
That statistic alone should tell EVERYONE that spending a lot of time in our vehicles must create some special risks that we need to study and understand if we are to survive an armed encounter there.
If you think the idea of having a gunfight in a bedroom is tough – try having one in a car.
Do bullets deflect differently when they hit a car than when they hit concrete? Do they deflect when they penetrate automotive glass? Is that deflection predictable? Do car doors stop bullets? Where is the best place to fight from? How do I unmount the car under fire? How do I get injured people out? What’s legal for me to do in my car?
In VCAT, you will:
- Learn and practice shooting from inside, through, around, and into vehicles and their various parts and sections.
- Define the various sections and “strong/weak” areas of vehicles.
- Conduct live-fire tests on all parts of a vehicle.
- Learn and practice dismounting vehicles under fire while returning fire.
- Learn and practice mounting vehicles under fire while returning fire.
- Learn and practice fighting in and around vehicles with teammates.
- …and much more!
Required Equipment:
