Overwatch Operator - 2 Day Course
OVERWATCH OPERATOR - 2-DAY COURSE (20 Hours)
Prerequisites: 8 hours of Scoped Carbine/Rifle
Time: Check in at Range 360 @0800 on Day 1. Departure: 1800 / Check in at Range 360 @0500 on Day 2. Departure: 1500
Description: This course is 2 FULL days of intensive and immersive marksmanship and fieldcraft training.
Candidates will learn to work on a team, with (and as) spotters and stalking partners, and will make appropriate adjustments and wind-calls to engage targets out to 800 yards while avoiding detection by various equipment, including airborne drones, while conducting various "Protection at a Distance" operations.
This course is physical in nature and requires math, and it involves a lot of material in a short amount of time. Be aware of your fitness and your abilities before you start this one.
Short Description: Starts with basic, then advanced, engagement and fieldcraft lessons and drills and progresses into complex scenarios. Candidates will better understand the art of "Protection at a Distance" at the conclusion of this course.
Required Equipment:
- Open Brain
- Pen, Notepad (All-weather notepads or DOPE books are recommended)
- Any centerfire scoped rifle in good working order. (*NO 338 LAPUA, or 50 BMG.).
- External elevation and windage adjustment knobs on your scope are beneficial, but not required
- Sling
- 200 rounds of ammunition.
- Shooting pad (foam sleeping mat from camping store will work just fine)
- Ear Protection (Muffs and plugs)
- Safety Glasses
- Camo outfit, Ghillie suit, other form of deep camouflage.
- Camo Ball cap/hat
- Knee and elbow pads are not required but they are suggested
- Rain Gear, and extra layers in case of cold.
- Small Range bag or Backpack to carry gear.
- Squeeze bag, or a tube sock and a 1-gallon Ziplock bag to make one.
- Rifle "Drag Bag" or zipper case to enclose entire rifle.
